Class Descriptions

DANCE CLASSES (adult-only, drop-in classes)

Beginner Ballet: For adult dancer’s with elementary ballet experience or who require a serious refresher.  If you have never taken ballet before, please try Ballet 101, the 6-week workshop series first. *wear ballet slippers and form fitting attire, leotards and tights are welcome but not required*

Intermediate Ballet: For adult dancer’s with ballet experience.  Appropriate for those who used to take ballet pre-professionally, in college, or have extended experience elsewhere.  For those looking to get back into the craft of Ballet. *wear ballet slippers and form fitting attire, leotards and tights are welcome but not required*

Advanced Ballet: Please see WORKSHOP info below.

Beginner Tap: Please see WORKSHOP info below for Tap 101 and Tap 201 options.

Intermediate Tap: Open class is for those with tap experience who understand the basic steps and have confidence in a moderately paced class; if you are new to tap or a beginner please check out the TAP 101 or 201 WORKSHOP SERIES *please bring your own tap shoes*

Beginner Jazz Dance: For the adult dancer who has minimal dance background or some coordination.  Class will include body isolations, basic jumps, turns and leaps, general dance technique, and musicality. *please dance barefoot or with jazz shoes*

Foxy Dance (sassy jazz): A fun and sensual dance class performed with lights dimmed where dancers learn a combo and then get to perfect it before the evening is over!  Let your hair down and come play! Appropriate for those with min-moderate dance experience. *please dance barefoot or with jazz shoes*

Contemporary (Intermediate-Advanced): For adult dancer’s who have a dance background, strong technique advised. Ability to turn and jump is required as well as retention for choreography.  For those dancer’s looking to get back into their craft. *please dance barefoot or with footsies, no socks permitted*

Bellydance: with instructor, Kaylin.  Bellydance is an engaging and hugely diverse dance form with roots throughout the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. It has the strengthening, calorie-burning benefits of all dances, but is lower impact than many other forms making it accessible to students of all ages. Each class will consist of a warm up, technique drills, a combination or choreography portion, shimmy drills and a cool down. As an instructor Kaylin’s goal is to increase students’ confidence and body awareness, giving them the ability to access different styles of movement and instruction. Come learn a beautiful and joyful art form!  Appropriate for beginners!  *please dance barefoot or with jazz shoes*

4 WEEK MINI-DANCE WORKSHOPS

*These workshops are for Fall 2017 only and are 4 weeks.  The studio owner will be out on maternity leave and wanted to leave you all with some dance opportunities in her absence.  Enjoy!*

Options include: Intermediate Tap, Contemporary (Int-Adv level), and Beginner Jazz!  See SCHEDULE TAB for dates and to register!

Check MINDBODY OFTEN during Sept/Oct for schedule changes.  Regular schedule resumes mid-Oct.

 

6 WEEK DANCE WORKSHOPS

Ballet 101 WORKSHOP: 6 week INTRO TO BALLET WORKSHOP for anyone interested in learning ballet or any dancer who needs a serious refresher. Class is taught as a series in 6 weeks as each class builds off of the next. NO make-ups allowed; however appropriate if a class is missed to attend next scheduled class. *Ballet shoes appreciated or dance barefoot/footsies*

Advanced Ballet WORKSHOP: 6 week class series for those with ballet experience and comfortable in intermediate level looking for a challenge.  Class is 2-hours in length.  There is 15 minutes of Pilates, 90 minute Ballet class, and 15 minutes of guided stretch at the end of class.*wear ballet slippers and form fitting attire, leotards and tights are welcome but not required*

Tap 101 WORKSHOP: 6 week INTRO TO TAP WORKSHOP for anyone interested in learning Tap or any dancer who needs a serious refresher. Class is taught as a series in 6 weeks as each class builds off of the next. NO make-ups allowed; however appropriate if a class is missed to attend next scheduled class. *Tap shoes required*

Tap 201 WORKSHOP: 6 week continuation of Tap 101 series or for any beginner tap dancer who needs a slower paced tap class as compared to the regular drop in Tap class on Monday evenings.  Workshop is appropriate to take multiple times as a beginner Tap class. *Tap shoes required*

Leaps, Turns & Jumps WORKSHOP: 6 week series to focus on the techniques of jazz and and contemporary class; a great supplement for anyone with at least a minimal dance history.   Two levels of workshop: Beginner-Intermediate and Intermediate-Advanced.  Please ask studio for assistance with placement if you are concerned, *please dance barefoot or with jazz shoes*

FITNESS CLASSES

Barre : pulse, tuck, and tone your way to a sculpted body using the traditional ballet barre; high repetition, low intensity exercises in this 55 minute fitness class.40*appropriate for all levels* wear non-slip socks or go barefoot, bring yoga mat or rent one.

Beginner Mat Pilates with Aroma: An introduction to Pilates on the mat.  Perfect for anyone who is new to Pilates or needs a refresher on the fundamentals.  Use of Young Living Aroma therapy throughout class for additional relaxation. *appropriate for all levels* wear non-slip socks or go barefoot, bring yoga mat or rent one

Bellydance Fitness Fusion:  Think strengthening with the cardio benefits of shimmies in this 55 minute fitness class! You’ll tone your body and keep your heart rate up, all with this fusion workout which will focus on leg, upper body, and core strengthening by incorporating traditional strengthening exercises with bellydance movements. This is NOT a dance technique class, but a chance to obtain the benefits of the bellydance repertoire including calorie burning, abdominal toning and of course tons of fun! *Appropriate for all levels* wear non-slip socks or go barefoot, bring yoga mat or rent one

Candlelight Deep Stretch: 45 minute stretch class with dimmed lighting to facilitate relaxation for deeper stretches and the use of props to increase your flexibility; perfect way to end your evening. *appropriate for all levels* wear non-slip socks or go barefoot, bring yoga mat or rent one

Dancer Conditioning:  40 minute fitness class geared towards dancers including general warm-up, core exercises, and stretching.  A great pre-ballet work out if you intend to take the Intermediate Ballet class which follows or appropriate for those who would like a condensed warm-up/workout. *appropriate for all levels* wear non-slip socks or go barefoot, bring yoga mat or rent one

Go-Glow! (mixed fitness): Mix of Pilates, Strengthening, and Relaxation to get you ready for Friday and the weekend.  This class keeps you guessing, you never know exactly what type of class it is going to be as it changes week to week! Use of Young Living essential oils during the meditation series at the end of class. *appropriate for all levels* wear non-slip socks or go barefoot, bring yoga mat or rent one
